Spring 2021 Activities

Saturday Hike – Simon Fraser University Loop Trail - CHANGED:

In light of the request of the Premier of BC and the Provincial Health Authority, we are postponing the BP Trail Part 2, which would have taken our whole Burnaby troop into North Vancouver, and instead will stay in our community and do the Simon Fraser University Loop Trail.

Note that as per the Provincial Health Authority website, you are allowed to attend your "home league" if it's in another community provided it is "relatively close", so if you live outside Burnaby, you are still allowed to come in to attend.  This is as per updates made on Monday of this week (Apr 19).

Here is the AllTrails map of our route:

https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/canada/british-columbia/simon-fraser-university-loop-trail

There are a number of geocaches on this trail. Doing it counter-clockwise means you do steep downhill near the beginning instead of steep uphill at the end.  The drop off and pickup point are the same, at the West Mall.  It may be pay parking.  Here is the google maps link for it:

Saturday Hike – BP Trail Part 2: CHANGED - SEE ABOVE!

On Saturday April 24th we will meet at the Lynn Canyon parking lot at 9:00 am. This is not the Lynn Loop parking lot but the parking lot where we ended the BP Trail part 1 that we did last fall, right by the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre.

Scouters please note that this is not a loop - you will need someone to drop you off and pick you up. If you leave your car at Lynn Canyon, you will have a looooooong walk to get back to it!

Here is the Google Maps Link to the Ecology centre which is where the parking lot is for the drop off.

The hike is expected to end at 3:00 pm at the Grouse Mountain Parking Lot.  The Google Maps Link to it is here.  That's the pick up location.

This hike is just over 7 kms (14.6 if you go there and back), some of it fairly rugged.  It’s a beautiful hike through west coast rain forest.  Here is the link to the trail. This map starts at the Lower Lynn area, which we will have to hike to from the ecology centre, so our total distance may be closer to 8 kms.
