Scout Week Virtual Potluck
On Wed Feb 24th at 6:00 pm we will be having our Scout Week Dinner as a virtual potluck. Zoom details will go out by email and are the same as for pack and troop Wed meetings.
What is this? Our founder, Lord Sir Robert Baden Powell’s birthday is on Feb 22. Every year, scouts around the world celebrate this as a time to recognize contributions of members and enjoy a celebration together. Normally Willingdon would host this in the Connection, but this year, we need to keep it virtual, so we are doing a virtual potluck. For older kids, this might be a great opportunity to do the cooking and make a camp-style meal the whole family can enjoy. Ranging from hot dogs or mac and cheese, to steak and lobster! Feel free to keep it simple, or challenge yourself!
Agenda:
(First hour is optional, but we encourage you to
participate, if you are able):
- 6:00 Gather on Zoom in
your kitchen to start cooking supper and visit (you might start cooking
earlier if your meal takes more than 30 minutes)
- 6:30 Start eating – I
will show slides of pre-COVID camps and rambles for pack and troop
- 7:00 Pastor Jono will
bring a devotional
- 7:15 Recognition for our
retired Akela and semi-retired Hawkeye
- 7:30 Movie night: Shaun
the Sheep
- 9:00 End
Virtual Meeting - Chief Scout Award
On Wednesday February 3rd at 7:00 pm we will have our regular biweekly Zoom meeting. We will have two guest speakers who achieved their Chief Scout Award and have pursued the Duke of Edinburgh award. We encourage all our scouts to make this meeting and come with any questions that you may have.
More details including Zoom information will be provided by email.
Pacific Spirit Park Hike - Sat Feb 6th
When: Saturday February 6th 2021 from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm
Where: Pick up and drop off at the Cleveland Trail Parking Lot in Pacific Spirit Park
This took me about 30 minutes to get to from my house near Joyce station, going down 41st to Marine Drive then backtracking a few blocks, and pulling a U-turn to get on the north side where the parking lot is. If the parking lot is full, there's lots of room for street parking.
We will stop at the Acadia Beach on Spanish Banks for our lunch.
We will return to the parking lot by 2:30 pm.
